Nose and Sinus
NOSE AND SINUS ENT SPECIALIST
The nose is a crucial organ in our body. It warms and cleans the air we breathe before sending it to the lungs, helping us breathe clean, fresh air. Sitting around the nose and nasal bone structures, are four groups of hollow cavities known as sinuses. The sinuses help reduce the weight of the facial bones, while maintaining the strength and shape of the bones. Sinuses also help add resonance to our voice.
These organs also help trap allergens and germs as they try to enter our body, hence ensuring that the body is safe from infections or diseases. However, this makes the nose and sinuses equally vulnerable to infections and diseases. When infected, the nose and sinuses can cause great discomfort and trouble to the individual, and if left untreated, some conditions can even lead to further complications. Some of the common conditions affecting the nose and sinuses can include:
- Allergic rhinitis
- Sinusitis
- Deviated septum
- Bleeding nose
- Nasal fractures and tumors
- Blocked or runny nose
It is often advisable to have your condition checked to get the most accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatments if you are experiencing nasal symptoms chronically.
